Drug intelligence / Profile preview
6-amino-4-(2-phenylethyl)-1,7-dihydro‑8H‑imidazo[4,5‑g]quinazolin‑8‑one is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the stilbene class of organic compounds. It has been studied primarily as an experimental inhibitor of queuine tRNA-ribosyltransferase (also known as tRNA-Guanine Transglycosylase or TGT), an enzyme involved in tRNA modification and implicated in bacterial pathogenicity. Structural studies have shown that this compound binds to the active site of TGT and can act as a competitive or noncompetitive inhibitor depending on its size and binding mode. There is no evidence for clinical use or approval; it remains an experimental tool compound for biochemical research into RNA modification enzymes and potential antibacterial drug discovery[2][7][5].
